Drone Inspections
Some of the most important parts of a property — particularly the roof and high-level elements — are also the hardest to inspect from ground level.
At JWA Surveyors, I use drone technology where appropriate to gain a clearer view of areas that would otherwise be difficult or unsafe to assess.
This allows for a more informed inspection and helps reduce the limitations of a traditional survey.
This forms part of our approach across both our Level 2 Home Surveys and Level 3 Building Surveys.
Why This Matters to You
Roof coverings, chimneys, flashings and gutters are common sources of defects - and also some of the most expensive elements to repair.
From ground level, it is not always possible to fully assess their condition.
Using a drone allows me to:
Identify defects that may not be visible from below
Inspect details such as slipped tiles, damaged flashings and blocked gutters
Provide a clearer understanding of the condition of high-level elements
This helps you make a more informed decision before committing to the purchase.
This is particularly valuable when combined with a Level 2 Survey or more detailed Level 3 Survey, where understanding roof condition is essential.
What Can Be Inspected
Drone inspections can assist with reviewing:
Roof coverings (tiles, slates, flat roofs)
Chimneys and chimney stacks
Lead flashings and junctions
Gutters and rainwater goods
High-level masonry and external features
All inspections are carried out in accordance with safety and access considerations.
Reducing Survey Limitations
All property surveys have limitations, particularly when it comes to accessing high-level areas.
By using drone technology, I aim to reduce those limitations wherever possible - giving you a clearer picture of the property’s condition.
This is particularly valuable for:
Taller properties
Complex roof structures
Properties where access is restricted
Situations where a ladder inspection is not possible or safe
Which Survey Should You Choose?
Drone inspections enhance the level of detail available, but choosing the right type of survey is just as important.
A Level 2 Survey is suitable for most modern and conventional properties
A Level 3 Survey is more appropriate for older, altered or complex properties
